After the Polar Vortex

Social media took a backseat today. Between getting up late because I stayed up late to read, helping the 5th grader with long division containing decimals, helping the 8th grader understand multiplying and dividing negative and positive exponents, laundry, a call from a friend and writing a paragraph on my newest WIP, I just didn’t feel like scrolling. What could I add, anyway that didn’t bring down a people already down, aggravated and bored?

Then, I opened my Bible and read this:

“For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39 KJV

Math can’t separate me. Being inside all week can’t separate me. Sleeplessness can’t separate me.

Well, then, I must conclude that while I am not equal to the task of inspiring myself muchless you, faithful readers, God is. His Word always lifts up, convicts, puts us on the right path. Youtube can’t fix us. New books or TV shows can’t fix us. There’s only one, y’all, and I’m putting all my trust in Him.

BTW, going out into the snow and taking pictures of it is a good way to end those afternoons with ugly ole Mr. Division. 🙂

Oh, if y’all only knew how today has been an answer to prayer, a miracle in my life. I didn’t know how to do long division until about 3 years ago when my husband so patiently taught me. I didn’t know how to do those negative exponents until this morning when it just click while my daughter read the instructions. See what putting God first can do? Before we did any school this morning, my girls and I sat down as a family and read from God’s Word. Then, we prayed. It works, y’all; I promise.

So, it’s your turn. How do you start each day?

Have a good weekend, and drop me a comment below. would love to hear from you.
