I am sick and tired of fear. I’m tired of being afraid, and angry at fearmongers. The worst of it all is we are playing into their hands and allowing ourselves to be controlled by fear.
What scares you? The Dark? Snakes? Latex balloons? The wearing of masks? Guns? Terrorists highjacking airplanes?
When the World Trade Centers fell, we were shocked and horrified and encouraged by our President to not give into the fear brought on by those terrorists.
Today, we scroll through our Facebook feeds and let everything coming and going, true or not scare our socks off.
Tell me if these headlines I saw on FB scare you.

California Bans Singing in Church
Why do they scare you? Are you afraid that they won’t let you sing in church? Are you afraid you or your family will be exposed to Bubonic Plague? Do you rely on the CDC for information?
Bubonic Plague can be cured with antibiotics. Yes, it can still make you very sick, and it can kill you. But, it can be cured.
The CDC is mixing up test results, but who is gathering that data? Humans, of course, humans who are not perfect. Humans have mixed up election results, made mistakes during surgery, forget their keys once in a while and sometimes say the wrong things in public.
As for singing in church, well the enemy of God and His people is trying pretty hard, but he will never silence the praises of God’s children. NEVER!
I read the back of God’s Holy Book, y’all, and guess what? WE WIN!
I’m working on a new book. It takes place during the depression. While doing research for it, I came across a quote from Franklin D. Roosevelt that pretty much says what we need to hear. Here is part of what he said during his first inaugual address.
“So, first of all, let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we have to fear is…fear itself — nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes…”
You can read the rest on your own, but doesn’t his explanation of fear match up with what you see in your social media feeds and on the news?
Nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes is just how I would describe the reactions I hear from family and friends and have been hearing since March.
But, in all this, nothing calms my heart and gives my soul peace more than the Word of God. So, here’s some verses for you, Beloved.
Psalm 46 KJV
1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
2 Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
3 Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah
2 Timothy 1:7 KJV
7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind
God isn’t the one sending us this fear; the enemy is. I am NOT giving into his lies, and I pray you don’t either. Amen? Amen!
